Truth About Meridians

The Truth About Meridians

Meridians continues to be a topic of discussion among the homeowners, but for all the wrong reasons. Bad food, poor service and overpriced are the most frequent criticisms. Unfortunately on any given day while dining at Meridians, you will likely experience at least one of these. This is not a new problem, in fact it has been going on since at least 2010.  During the same time frame, Meridians has incurred losses of over $2 million. In 2020 the Board of Directors had an opportunity to fix the problem, but they chose not to take action and instead rearranged the deck chairs on the Titanic.  Since many of you were not here in 2020, we will take this opportunity to tell the story.

Early in 2020, because the leadership of Board member Don Negus and President Alice Crawford, an ad hoc Committee was approved by the BOD to investigate the possibility of outsourcing the Management of Meridians to a professional food service management company. By June of that year the committee had identified two firms that met our requirements. But before we could move forward with an RFP the project was put on hold because of the unknown consequences of the PPP Loan debacle. The committee conducted a survey of homeowners to determine what was important to them. The idea was to incorporate those ideas into the RFP. After work resumed we continued our efforts which culminated in a contract with Sodexo which simply needed the signature of the Executive Director, Bob Richardson. Bob did not sign the agreement even though all of his terms and conditions were agreed to by Sodexo. Bob was the victim of bullying and coercion by a faction of the incoming board that was opposed outsourcing regardless of the benefits to the homeowners.

We have obtained the documents associated with the project including the final draft of the contract and the report to the homeowners. Please review these and the other documents to learn the truth about what could have been.
